Unlike his brothers and sister, Kol Mikaelson first and foremost looks out for himself. He sees this as a get out of jail free card because his incentive is not only keeping his body but not dying a (second) painful death. What's a little heavy petting to cheating death once more. It beats having a dagger in his chest. His loyalty is flexible, he's changed hands multiple times this season alone. To Kol, this is just another shuffle of the deck, one he's eager to take advantage of.

While sex and Kol hasn't been shown on screen, it's been implied. He's thousands of years old, he's had sex. Considering his relationship with Davina has been chaste enough (some kissing), he's ready to have his bell rung, to take this body for a real test drive. This'll also be the first time he's not tethered to someone, to mommy dearest whom he describes as mad as a hatter, or to Klaus. He'll carve out his own path - while causing mischief along the way because at his heart, he's still a Mikaelson. And all that said, his death meant something when he formerly believed he'd never been mourned. While this won't fundamentally change him, it might give him an extra pep in his step.

While Kol Mikaelson spent thousands of years as a vampire, he's currently inhabiting the body of a witch. Because he spent some time in New Orleans (he's fond of witches), Kol already had a learning curve when it came to magic. He practiced with his mother, being a witch himself, before being turned into a vampire. This was confirmed during a date with Davina. He's seen using it to prank people on the streets of the French Quarter. Power he has access to on a whim includes telekinesis (knocking an apple off a cart), aerokenesis (blowing a woman's skirt up). He can perform spells and has a vast knowledge in finding, using, and making what are called dark objects. However, when he was brought back, his mother deliberately put him in a weaker witch's body.

Well-traveled, Kol also demonstrated that he has a knowledge of medicinal herbs, having traveled through Uganda in the 14th century. His father trained him as a child. He's proficient in weaponry - specifically swords and bows.

However, because he's a witch, he has the same weaknesses of a witch. Straining and taking on too much power will fatigue and hurt him. He can channel another witch's power, but he can also be channeled. And his body is not his own, he can be jettisoned from it. A host must be carefully prepared to be possesed. And, as he is human, he is no longer immortal. He can scar. He hates that.
